Having a blog is new to me. I was definitely talked into doing this...but I think I secretly like it. My only concern is that I am not writing about things that other people care about reading, ha! But, I have to remember what Liz told me, "The blog is for you, not others." So, really I am writing so I can remember the things that go on in my life. My memory is already getting rusty, lol, so I am excited to have this as a reminder one day! Nashville just gets more and more exciting each day that I am here!! I have had many visitors this past couple of days and I just love it. I don't really feel like I am "set up" to entertain just yet, but none the less I love having company. :) Moving here has really made me realize what a "grown up" I am becoming. I have really enjoyed cooking! Tonight I made chicken risotto, green beans, and french bread with olive oil dip :). It was delicious, if I do say so. Liz is here visiting and has given me many wonderful tips!!

A new blog for a new place...

So after not blogging for about two years, two of my best friends have convinced me to start again...or at least try! I've never thought that I had enough interesting thoughts to put on a blog. And that may still be true. But I am making an exciting move - to Nashville, Tennessee! And I'm moving in with one of my very best friends. We met on a mission trip with our college ministry at the University Church at Alabama, and when we both found that we were moving to Nashville this fall, we were excited to live together! After spending just a few days in our new apartment, unpacking what felt like hundreds of boxes, making quite a few trips to home decor stores, and starting our church search, we jokingly said we should start a blog about all of our new adventures. All we had to do was joke about that in front of Elizabeth...and we had our first promise of a loyal blog reader. :) So here's our best shot!

It's a "new chapter" and "next phase" of life for me: finally finished with school, working a full time job. I've been at the University of Alabama for the past few years completing my masters' degree. I never would have thought I'd move to Tuscaloosa, Alabama (I had honestly heard of it maybe once before I applied to UA), but now I can't believe it's time to leave! I was blessed to make incredible friends in the two short years I lived there. I also would have never thought I'd move to Nashville, but I couldn't be more excited about it!

The Big Move to Tennessee

I have made the move to Nashville! Melanie and I moved in the weekend of July 4th. That was quite an interesting weekend. I am pretty sure we will be living in this apartment for a while...ha! We assumed that 245 was on the second floor of the building...we soon found out..it was on the 3rd. Dad informed me that the next residents of our apt will inherit all of my heavy belongings :). After carrying many of Mel's boxes of books he also insisted that she invest in a kindle. But, now that we are all moved in and situated, we couldn't be more excited! I think I am slowly learning my way around...of course with Mel, the navigator's help! We are excited to both be back in town so we can continue exploring our new Nashville lives!!

About

Sweet Home Music City is a Blog about my new Nashville life. I have high expectations for my blog. But, considering that I have spent 7 hours deciding on what my layout, style, and first post in 5 months..I think I better take it slow! These things are a lot more complicated that what I remembered...maybe that is why I quit writing. Ha. I am a little more determined and focused this time, though!

I want my blog to be more than just what fun thing happened last weekend. I want to share my recipes, my music, my projects that I'm working on, and books that I am reading! I know you're thinking...does she realize that her blog just has 5 posts at the moment? And, only one from this month? Yes, I know this. There is more to come! Once I get the hang of this, maybe it will be more exciting for my followers to come and visit!
